TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar photovoltaic panels are a new generation of high-efficiency PV modules built on N-type silicon wafers, featuring an ultra-thin silicon oxide layer and doped polysilicon layer on the rear side to form a passivated contact structure. This technology significantly reduces carrier recombination losses through superior surface passivation, enabling cell conversion efficiencies exceeding 25% and module efficiencies of 22.5%~25.17%, making it the most cost-effective upgrade path after mainstream PERC technology.
TOPCon modules significantly outperform traditional P-type PERC modules across multiple dimensions: no Light-Induced Degradation (LID) or Light and Elevated Temperature-Induced Degradation (LeTID), with first-year degradation ≤1% and annual linear degradation of only 0.35%~0.40%, retaining 87.4%88.85% of nominal power output after 30 years; temperature coefficient as low as -0.26%/℃-0.29%/℃, delivering significant energy yield advantages in high-temperature environments; bifaciality up to 80%~85%, far exceeding PERC modules at 70%, enabling an additional 10%~25% rear-side power gain on high-albedo surfaces (concrete, sand, snow).
The modules adopt Multi-Busbar (SMBB) and half-cut cell technology, effectively reducing resistive losses and improving micro-crack resistance. The front side uses 1.6mm~2.0mm ultra-white anti-reflective coated tempered glass, with an anodized aluminum alloy frame and IP68-rated junction box. The modules withstand 5,400Pa snow load and 2,400Pa wind load, operating within -40℃ to 85℃, with resistance to salt mist, ammonia corrosion, PID, and sand/dust, suitable for coastal, high-humidity, high-ammonia, and desert environments.
High Efficiency — N-type TOPCon cell efficiency exceeds 25%, module efficiency 22.5%~25.17%, approximately 1.5~2 percentage points higher than PERC modules
Low Degradation — No LID/LeTID, first-year degradation ≤1%, annual linear degradation only 0.35%~0.40%
Low Temperature Coefficient — -0.26%/℃~-0.29%/℃, significant yield gain in high-temperature environments
High Bifaciality — 80%~85% bifaciality, rear-side power gain up to 10%~25%
Superior Low-Light Performance — Maintains 95%~98% relative power output at 200W/㎡ low irradiance
Shading/ Hot-Spot Resistance — Multi-busbar and half-cut design optimizes current paths, reducing hot-spot risk
The following are general specifications for mainstream TOPCon PV modules, classified by application scenario:
Residential Rooftop PV — 48~54-cell format, 415W~510W, 21.5kg~24.5kg, all-black dual-glass design combining aesthetics and efficiency, suitable for residential and small commercial rooftops
Commercial & Industrial Distributed PV — 66-cell format, 580W~670W, bifacial dual-glass construction, high bifaciality utilizing rooftop reflected light to increase yield, suitable for factories, industrial parks, and shopping malls
Utility-Scale Ground-Mounted Plants — 66~78-cell format, 700W~770W, low-voltage design increases string power and reduces BOS costs and LCOE by 2%~6%, suitable for large ground-mounted PV plants
Coastal & High-Humidity Regions — Salt mist and ammonia corrosion resistance, IP68 junction box and dual-glass construction ensure long-term reliability, suitable for coastal and fishery PV projects
High-Albedo Ground-Mounted Plants — 80%~85% bifaciality, additional 10%~25% rear-side gain on sand, snow, and concrete surfaces, suitable for desert and high-latitude snow projects
High-Temperature Regions — Temperature coefficient as low as -0.26%/℃, significant yield advantage in high-temperature, high-irradiance regions such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America
Agrivoltaic / Aquavoltaic Projects — Bifacial dual-glass modules offer good light transmittance and weather resistance, suitable for agricultural greenhouses and water-surface PV
TOPCon PV modules consist of N-type TOPCon cells, ultra-white anti-reflective coated tempered glass, EVA/POE film, rear glass or TPT backsheet, anodized aluminum alloy frame, IP68 junction box, and MC4-compatible connectors. Cells are soldered in series/parallel using Multi-Busbar (SMBB) and half-cut technology, laminated and encapsulated, then assembled with the frame. Bypass diodes are built into the junction box to prevent hot-spot effects. The module outputs DC power through MC4 connectors, directly connectable to PV inverters or combiner boxes, suitable for grid-connected, off-grid, and hybrid power generation systems.
